　Group Workcamps

	What?


	Workcamps organized for specific groups like schools, NGOs, companies, governments, etc. The content (type of work, place, period, finance, type or number of volunteers, etc.) depend on the needs of the groups and hosts.

	Who?


	Volunteers from the sending organization or both sending and hosting organizations are recruited as a group (not individually from different routes). There are two situations, one where all members of the group automatically join and one where only some of the group joins optionally. Usually, workcamp organizations on both sides plan and organize together and each provide a leader.　It is also possible to have different groups from three or more countries attend one workcamp.

	Why?


	There is a increasing demand to input the elements of a workcamp, such as voluntary works and collective life, into often already existent programs in society such as schools, company trips, training for new employees, seminars and language classes. Effective training and preparation for productive workcamps are necessary, especially for those who are not initially motivated towards voluntary service and global citizenship. Training programs can be improved by utilizing our know-how and extensive networks. It is an opportunity to involve a wider segment of society, such as individuals who would not normally apply alone or those who have not had the opportunity. It can also act as a fundraising project for the community or to help support the group's attendance at the workcamp.

	When?


	It is based on the agreement by both the sending group and hosting organization. It can be held at any time of the year and for any length of time.

	Where?


	Anywhere that the groups and the hosts like! We can also host your groups in Japan.

	How?


	1) Sending organization drafts a plan with a group. 2) Sending organization proposes it to the hosting organization. 3) Hosting organization finds the local partners and may modify the plan with them and responds to the sending organization. 4) Hosting and sending organization make an agreement. * It can also be done in reverse, wher the hosts plan and then we try to find a group.

	Examples!


	1) Austrailia for 8 days in April with 15 students (+ 1 teacher) from a vocational school hosted by an aboriginal community (ongoing since 2002). 2) Italy for 10 days in December 2002 with 10 students of an alternative high school hosted at an eco-village. 3) Japan for 5 days in August 2004 with 10 physically disadvantaged students from the US hosted at a home for the mentally disadvantaged. 4) Mongolia for 4 days in July 2004 with 70 adult employees from a local group hosted at an orphanage. 5) Indonesia for 14 days in August 2004 with medical university students doing voluntary medical works.
